Free Music Notes for Strum Sum UpFree Music Review: For Veteran Fans, Doug (DUG) Doesn't Disappoint Hit: 4 Stars
It's Doug; what more can you say? If you like King's X style guitar, with crunching bass (and Doug isn't playing bass on these tracks), this is it. As usual, it has Doug's "real" world" subject matter in the lyrics. The opening cut, Perfect World, bears this out, with Doug's sarcastic view of things which forces you to be honest about the way life really is. I've got all his other releases as well as those of King's X, and I keep coming back.
Lyrically, Doug is a few big steps above other rock groups; I just wonder what kind of life he's led that's supplied him with such insight. Sure, the groove is there, but it's all really there to make you THINK. So far, it doesn't seem he's run out of inspiration or ideas to put to music the subjects of life, faith, and truth.
Best of luck to Doug's individual pursuits and those of King's X.
