Free Music Review: 'Till The Heart Caves In

While the idea of making an album with songs dealing with the theme of smoking isn't exactly a great one, and even though there are more than a few songs here that have little if anything to do with that concept, this is a superb album that showcases lang's magnificent vocals.Her cover of Steve Miller's "the Joker" and of the theme from "Valley of the Dolls" may be a hoot, and her version of David Wilcox's "My Old Addiction" sultry and smooth, but the real star of this dic is "Till The Heart Caves In." It alone is worth 5 stars and the price of admission.

A whole album worth of kd's lush, smooth vocals. Her voice just melts thru your speakers with these jazz-enriched songs. Altho they are all about smoking, she sings them in a way that you don't even notice it. This album is a must have for the TRUE k.d. lang connoisseur...Free Music Review: it's a drag

I was sorely disappointed in this music. I loved Shadowland and Torch and Twang. Every song is ssoooooo blue. It sounds as if k.d. has just awakened from a drug induced sleep and can't seem to stay on key. I think k.d. lang has one of the all time best voices but she sure doesn't showcase it on this album. Sorry but I don't feel as if I got my money's worth. The songs are too blue and too slow.Free Music Review: Kind Of A Drag

Oh joy, a whole concept album centered around cigarettes. It even manages to slander the Hollies' classic "The Air That I Breathe" (which has NOTHING to do with smoking; lang must have erroneously thought that including it would be wryly clever). lang's version of the song literally drags...and drags...and has none of the intensity and life that the Hollies' version had. And Steve Miller's "Joker"? Give me a break. That song was an inane 3-chord dud even in Miller's original version. I think kd lang is the BEST singer I have ever heard and this alobum is her greatest yet. kd has the ability to change your mood from tourchy to funny twangy without batting an I. I'm ordering another because I wor my copy out playing it all the time. I think she is the greatest!! I don't know how she'll top this one...but I know she will. Brovo kd.....keep them comming.
