Free Music Review: K-Os- Joyful Rebellion

K-Os returns with his second album "Joyful Rebellion" (2004). I write this review with pleasure, right now their are very few Canadian MC's who can attract the attention of Rap audiences outside our country. K-Os is an exception a talented, versatile (vocals, piano, guitar,keyboards, programming) MC who delivers, innovative, substanial music. K-Os starts his album talking about money hungry rappers on "Emcee Murdah", then sings soulfully on "Crucial". Next he takes things back on an oldschool beat with "Man I Used To Be", a memorable track about a man's search for redemption. K-Os reaches out to commercial audiences with his single "Crabbuckit", delivering an upbeat track which has been getting a fair bit of play. To be honest though not really feeling this single at the moment. While the other single "B-Boy Stance" is about remaining authentic in a game full of clones. My personal favourite track at the moment is "The Love Song", K-Os shines on this one lyrically while delivering a premium chorus. "Hallelujah" is a mellow slow track, where K-Os sings and lets the instrumental do its work. K-Os shines again on "Dirty Water" with Sam Roberts. "Papercutz" feat. Kamau closes the album off on a good note. "Joyfull Rebellion" is an album I recommend for the collection.
