Free Music Review: The future of house music
Hit: 4 Stars

I am not the big house music fan that I used to be. Trance music is definitely more of my thing. Most house music nowadays reminds me too much of disco, and I had my fill of dancing to disco music back in my college days. Other than Basement Jaxx and Daft Punk, Rinocerose is one of the few rare house acts that I will actually listen to. Unfortunately I loathed their follow up album to "Installation Sonore". I sold it almost right away. I was hoping that it would capture the same magic of "Installation Sonore". Back in 2000, French house music was the rage with Dimitry from Paris, Daft Punk, Mirwais, and Rinocerose. Out of that group, I thought Rinocerose was the best. The husband and wife duo blends both live instruments with the traditional equipment used to create techno music. "La Guitaristic House Organisation' is a seven minute opus that has a killer guitar hook. My favorite has to be the bass hook in "Sublimior". That bass hook is absolutely tight. It is something that Daft Punk would probably come up with . Although there are no vocals to be found through out "Installation Sonore", I found the album to be quite refreshing in a genre of dance music in which if you hear one dance act, you heard them all.

Free Music Review: Sweet, lovely & rhythmic
Hit: 5 Stars

The bass lines on this CD totally rock! This is one great listen!

Free Music Review: Honestly, I Expected More
Hit: 3 Stars

My first album by Rin??er?se was the dynamite "Music Kills Me," which took house to new directions with its fuse of drum loops, guitars, flutes and jazz influences. However, a lot of people were seemingly disappointed with the album and suggested that I get their debut, which they say is better. While many of the jams on this album are indeed above-average, "Installation Sonore" is overall weighed down by filler in the form of subpar tunes on the latter half of the disc. "Radiocapte" is what we've come to expect from this group: innovative beats, strong hooks, and impressive flutes that add a classy touch. But by the end of the disc, things get a bit patchy with lesser material. I'm not in any way bashing this debut; it's a competent effort that would pave the way for their superior followup, "Music Kills Me." It's just that I think it falls short of living up to the raves it got upon release.

Free Music Review: Experience House
Hit: 5 Stars

The French band Rinocerose have offered what is one of my favorite house CDs to listen to. Its the perfect mix of their own blend of house, which incorporates house with jazz, distorted guitars, Latin rhythms. The sound can be described as both innovative and original, as well as refreshing. All 10 tracks are distinct and none sound alike. The party really gets started with the opening "La Guitaristic House Organisation" which is 7 minutes + of pure heaven for house lovers, opening with a heavy beat then kicking in with the synth and electric guitars. It's classic. This was undoubtably one of the best house albums of 2000, with its original voice and interesting mix of intruments into melodies. The album is relaxing to listen to at times, other times you'll want to get up and dance. I highly reccomend this cd.

Free Music Review: Fresh and Innovative
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is one of the best house releases of the year 2000. Its unique sound is strangely refreshing in a marketplace full of commercialistic, uninspired sets. From the first moment I heard it, I was hooked. Innovate!
