Free Music Review: More great Anna Waronker music

The sophomore album from That Dog is a great follow-up to their self-titled release. The songs range from very pumk sounding to bittersweet, and the album as a whole is one of my personal favorites. The songs Lip Gloss and Ms. Wrong are probably the best songs on the album. This was the last quality album from That Dog before thier collapse on Retreat from the Sun, and I recommend buying this album. Also, as a side note, great artwork for the cover of the album- very sweet and insightful.

Alternative rock wanders along some folky backroads for this L.A. band. At times their raging guitars suggest a summit meeting between John Zorn and Sonic Youth, but Anna Waronker's paper-thin vocals and Petra Haden's violin retain a human dimension. Most tracks zip by in under 2:30, and that brevity and focus pays off on tracks like "Ms. Wrong," "He's Kissing Christian," and "She Doesn't Know How." --Jeff BatemanAlternative Rock Music CDs
