Free Music Review: [title of show]
Hit: 5 Stars

I think the people who didn't enjoy the [title of show] cast album really don't get the concept. One of the previous reviewers actually had the audacity to say that the show has no memorable songs, and I completely disagree. I haven't had this much fun listening to an original cast album since I first put in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee into my CD player last summer. I think [title of show] is clearly a fun and entertaining musical about the process of making art and how hard it can be to keep your spirit when the world seems dead set at breaking you down and telling you, you suck. My response to those who type mean spirited reviews earlier - Die Vampire, Die!

Free Music Review: A nice start but not yet there
Hit: 2 Stars

As other reviews note, a good idea, but the score and especially lyrics just don't get all the way there. I've only listened to the recording once--perhaps, as I suspect to be the case, future listenings will make the tunes more memorable. Mind you, some already are nice, but they seem to be outnumbered. Nothing typically is outright bad, just not all the way there, yet.

Also, and perhaps because it's a Monday morning, but I found the gratuitous vulgar language interspersed every now-and-again bothersome. It generally seemed exactly that: gratuituous and jarring.

In the end, I'd give this two-and-a-half stars. I'd still buy it, just to hear an experimental mainstay-type work. But summing up, the tunes just aren't yet up to the level of the album artwork, which is very nice and tempting, indeed.

(By the way: no prude here, and I like experimental works. But this recording just hasn't gone the distance, yet. A shame.)

Free Music Review: No Standout Songs
Hit: 1 Stars

I listened to this score twice, but could not find anything that really stuck w/ me. Too bad.

Free Music Review: The best [Show] in New York Right Now
Hit: 5 Stars

This show has a precious premise, about Jeff and Hunter writing a musical about Jeff and Hunter writing a musical, but it's about more than that- it's about the creative process and how we overcome certain obstacles to make art. It's the funnier, more accessible "Sunday In The Park With George".
This score is full of plenty of humour and great musical theatre trivia, with very catchy melodies and tunes. My only hope is that this show will run and run...

Free Music Review: Terribly Disappointing
Hit: 2 Stars

This is not really a score I would frequently listen to. Maybe the show is more interesting in person. Disappointed!
